What You Will Learn

This introduction to Spanish is designed for beginners or to supplement an introduction to a Spanish course in middle school. We will cover correct pronunciation, useful phrases, and conversation starters, focusing on conversation practice and confidence while speaking. Audio and video clips of native speakers from different dialects will be used to demonstrate pronunciation throughout the course. Recommended homework (10 minutes per day) includes flashcards and practice scripts to use with a parent or sibling. In Lesson 1, we will discuss pronunciation using examples for each letter for learners to be able to sound out unfamiliar words. In Lessons 2-5 learners will practice discussing their favorites, the weather, their mood, and their own and others' physical descriptions. In Lesson 6, learners will have the opportunity to put together and practice what they learned during the previous weeks using provided scripts and time to practice without a script.
