Learning Goals for Smashmallow Art Studio By the end of this creative course, students will be able to: Master Color Theory: Identify and mix custom pastel and vibrant paint shades inspired by specific Smashmallow flavors like "Strawberry Chia" and "Mint Chocolate Chip". Explore Tactile Textures: Use various brush strokes and mixed-media techniques to replicate the unique, "sugary" and geometric surfaces of the marshmallows on a 2D canvas. Develop Character Design Skills: Transform a simple cube shape into a whimsical "Mallow Character" by applying principles of personification, facial expressions, and accessory design. Composition & Background: Design a themed "world" or environment for their character, focusing on how to use scale and perspective to make their marshmallow hero stand out.
We begin by choosing a "muse" marshmallow flavor. Students will learn to mix custom acrylic or watercolor shades to match their marshmallow’s unique palette, focusing on tints, shades, and vibrancy.
Using sponges, dry brushes, and salt-texture techniques, we will practice recreating the "dusty," sugary, or smooth surfaces of different Smashmallows on a flat canvas to create a realistic 2D study.
