
This short course is designed to simplify and clarify your student's understanding of what it means to write an essay. An exploration of essay fundamentals will allow students to find a unique writing voice while coming to a more confident position from which to write essays for grade school and beyond!

By the end of this course, your child will be able to: - Articulate the purpose of an essay - Understand the structure and purpose of a basic thesis - Explain the "beginning, middle, and end" structure of essay writing - Organize their thoughts using mind maps and other brainstorming models - Practice identifying their own opinion about a given topic - Build confidence in their writing skills! The three lessons will cover: 1- The purpose of an essay, brainstorming and thesis crafting, and preliminary organizational models 2- The body of essay writing, including a comprehensive understanding of beginning, middle, and ending, as well as basic argumentation 3- How to comprehensively wrap up an essay, proper ending structure, and finishing their argument/statements well I find that rich discussion and actively engaged students create the best learning atmosphere! I will implement practical tips with verbal participation and in-class activities to help your child find their voice.
