
This short course is designed to simplify and clarify your student's understanding of what it means to write an essay. An exploration of essay fundamentals will allow students to find a unique writing voice while coming to a more confident position from which to write essays for grade school and beyond!

By the end of this course, your child will be able to: - Articulate the purpose of an essay - Understand the structure and purpose of a basic thesis - Use the "beginning, middle, and end" structure of essay writing - Organize their thoughts using mind maps and other brainstorming models - Practice identifying their own opinion about a given topic - Write a short personal essay The lessons will cover: - The purpose of an essay, brainstorming and thesis crafting, and preliminary organizational models - The body of essay writing, including a comprehensive understanding of beginning, middle, and ending, as well as basic argumentation - How to comprehensively wrap up an essay, proper ending structure, and finishing their argument/statements well Rich discussion and actively engaged students create the best learning atmosphere! I will implement practical tips, verbal participation, and in-class and homework activities to help your child find their voice.
