Introductory Biology: The Science of Life

Welcome to Foundations of Biology, an six-week journey into the science of life. In this course, we will explore what it really means to be alive, from tiny cells and molecules to plants, animals, and entire ecosystems. Each week, you will dive into new topics through interactive lessons, short virtual labs, videos, and group discussions. You will see biology come to life as we uncover how energy moves through living things, how DNA shapes who we are, and how all organisms are connected in our world. This class is designed to be flexible and fun. You don't need any previous experience; just curiosity, creativity, and an open mind. By the end of the course, you will have a stronger understanding of how life works and how biology plays a role in your everyday world. Each week focuses on discussing and exploring the assigned slides. Optional in-class demonstrations or virtual simulations may be included.
