This course will go over how to go about reading a piece of literature and how to write academic essays. We will begin by going over literary devices and note-taking during reading. Throughout the course, we will have discussions on the texts we're reading and students will be asked to share their own writing responses.
We will learn how to approach literary texts in a sense greater than just reading it for the plot. We will learn to dive deeper into literature.
We will discuss and practice how to write academic essays on texts. This will involve learning to write a proper thesis, essay format, MLA citation, etc.
Students will learn to engage with literary texts and delve deeper into the text itself, finding new meanings in reading. Students will also learn to write academic papers, which includes learning MLA formatting, how to write a thesis, etc.
