What You Will Learn

In this remote class for ages 4 - 5, students will build basic math and life skills in a patient, respectful, and caring environment. At the beginning of each class, we will start with short, age-appropriate breathing exercises to help students feel calm, focused, and ready to learn. Lessons focus on reading, speaking, basic math, and real-life problem solving to build confidence and independence. I truly enjoy supporting children in ways that help them feel happy, cared for, and excited to learn, and I look forward to creating a positive, meaningful, and fun learning experience together. Sitting for long periods can be tiring, so breaks and movement support students’ well-being. Even online, I create a calm, nurturing space where every child feels respected and encouraged.

Meet Your Teacher
Emmaleigh Alfrey
I am a college student majoring in Elementary Education and I have a deep passion for working with children. I have experience in a variety of childcare settings, including daycares, summer school camps, and educational programs. I also have experience supporting children with special needs, including a summer program at a special needs school where I worked as a ParaProfessional. During high school, I volunteered in a daily life skills and workplace skills program for students ages 18 to 21. I have babysat for two summers in a row, cared for my younger siblings, and helped my nephew with his learning since he was three years old, supporting him as he has grown. In daycare and childcare centers, I have helped with afternoon instruction time where children learned their ABCs, 123s, and other early learning skills. Each day included circle time, music, dance, and a variety of crafts to encourage creativity and hands-on learning. I also assisted the morning teacher with instruction and daily routines. I love planning activities that are fun, engaging, and interactive so children can enjoy learning while developing new skills. I believe that children learn best when they feel safe, valued, and supported. I want every child to have fun while learning, to never feel bored or dislike school, and to develop a love for their education. I also believe that meditation before instructional time can help students focus and feel calm, and that brain breaks like Kahoot games, GoNoodle videos, and movement activities help them reset and stay engaged. Sitting for long periods can be tiring, so snack breaks, bathroom breaks, and movement are important for their well being. Even though this is a remote setting, my goal is to create a calm, nurturing, and welcoming learning environment where every student feels seen, respected, and encouraged. I hope to make virtual learning meaningful, positive, and fun, while helping students grow in confidence, curiosity, and a love for learning. I truly enjoy supporting children in ways that help them feel happy, cared for, and excited to learn.
