By the end of the Chroma-Colony Carnival, your young artist will be able to: Deconstruct the World: Break down complex animals (like penguins) into simple geometric shapes like ovals, "U" shapes, and triangles. Master Color Theory: Distinguish between "Warm" and "Cool" colors and understand how to use "High-Contrast" pairs to make their art pop. Develop Fine Motor Skills: Practice "line confidence" through bold permanent marker outlining and controlled filling. Build Creative Autonomy: Move beyond "copying" to "creating" by adding unique accessories and imaginative backgrounds.
Focus: Shape Recognition & The Basics. The Project: We start with the classic penguin shape but fill the body with concentric rainbow circles. Key Concept: Learning the "Directed Drawing" method—watching one step and then doing it.
Focus: Texture & Repetition. The Project: Our penguin goes to the "Carnival"! Students will design a unique "tuxedo" using polka dots, zig-zags, and stripes. Key Concept: Using "Patterns" to create visual interest and texture without adding new objects.
